NY Times' David Pogue on the Bizarre World of Paying for Ringtones
NY Times' David Pogue on the Bizarre World of Paying for Ringtones. Personally, I've only purchased a ringtone once (Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", used as my morning alarm). I've never understood paying a couple bucks for a snippet of a song, and I wish the whole practice would go away.

Amazon to Offer DRM-Free Music Downloads
Amazon.com has
announced that they are going to be selling DRM-free music downloads in MP3 format, allowing them to be used both on the iPod and the Zune (as well as a host of other cool playback options). EMI is the first major label to sign up. Kudos to them. I know it might be pie-in-the-sky, but my hope is that all the music I have bought from the iTunes Music Store will eventually be made available to me to re-download (for free)
without the DRM, so I can use it more freely (like play it through our Xbox 360).

Come In / Go Away
Brilliant! From
SUCK UK Design comes a
very cool doormat. It makes use of a cleverly-designed

Angels & Demons.

Cisco sues Apple over use of the iPhone name - D'oh! Not too surprising, as I didn't think these two would be able to come to some agreement on this. Apple should just bite it and change the name - maybe the Apple Phone? Branded a la the Apple TV (formerly iTV)?
